What are your favorite podcasts? Here are some of ours.

The explosion of podcasting as a new media channel has really paved the way for many people to come forth and do their own "radio" shows without the cost of buying airtime. One niche that has really burst forth is the mommy and daddy genre. Some are "experts" but many are just real people like you and me who don't profess to have all the answers but love to share their experiences with their audience.

We would like to tell you about 2 in particular that we enjoy listening to.

KidsWifeWorkLife

Mike and his wife Chris (who is also a teacher) are parents of 2 children who share their week to week experiences of trying to balance the pressures of managing their careers, kids and time for themselves as well. It is done really well and follows a basic format:

A book segment where they recommend and talk about a kid's book in their collection.
Reader mail and audio comments
The topic of the week (usually based on an experience that they had)
A musical selection
Wrap-up and outtakes

They often run contests and giveaways as well. Just keep in mind though that they actually haven't done a new show in almost 6 months, as Chris's father has not been well.It is still well worth going back and listening to all the episodes as they are for the most part timeless. You can subscribe by iTunes o just listen to the shows in the player applet on the right side of the site.

Dena and I really hope they are able to start recording again. They aren't Jewish (as far as I know) but they do have real good core values and are definitely a good listen.

Raise Your Kids, Not Your Voice Sarah Chana Radcliffe is a parenting and marriage counselor. In addition to many articles and her book Raise Your Kids without Raising Your Voice, Radcliffe is doing a weekly podcast on OURadio based on her book. Dena and I have found that her methods work really well - at least what we have tried so far. I will be posting our experience with implementing one of her ideas in a future post.

What about you? Are there any parenting podcasts that you would like to highlight? Leave a comment, or write your own article here on MyNachas and we will feature it on the home page.
